History

Eindhoven student soccer association Pusphaira ([Pushfira]) is one of the largest student sports associations of the Student Sports Center that belongs to Eindhoven University of Technolgy. The association is established in 1965 and celebrated her 50th anniversary in October 2015: the tenth lustrum. The name Pusphaira is derived from the Greek words Pus, which means foot, and Spheres, which means ball.

At Pusphaira we play in different leagues: there are two men’s selection teams for those who give their lives for sport achievements of the club. Additionally, there are the ‘lower teams’ for those who play soccer more as a hobby. Besides, we have two women’s teams (ladies 1 and ladies 3).

The league matches start in September and end in April or May. Before the season starts, the cup matches start in August. We play our league matches on Sunday. Home matches are played at Sports park De Hondsheuvels. All teams play in leagues that are organized by the Dutch national soccer federation (KNVB).

Next to playing matches, there are trainings. For the time table of the trainings we refer to the page Training.

For alumni members of the club there is the Postphaira association. Postphairens (also called OPA-members) receive the club magazine and can join several events such as the New Year’s tournament and the International Tournament. In this way, they stay connected to the association.

Pusphaira is proud of the fact that they are a prominent association for the Student Sports Center. This is due to the active character of it’s members during and after trainings and matches, their participation in tournaments and the events they organize. See the committees page for more information on this topic.
